We are currently investigating the possibility to develop a robotic workcell that can be operated by a remote technician through the Internet

The rational of our research builds on the observation that the Internet is no more simply a huge collection of information but has the potential to become a huge collection of services. This is being aided by the current trend, "embedding the Internet", which pursues the interconnection of any kind of physical and virtual resources through the Internet.

While a plethora of technical and commercial solutions are available to support Web-based access to remote information, little has been done to assess the feasibility of tight dynamical interaction with remote resources over low-band connections.
