TC-SOFT is a forum for furthering the research in Software Engineering for Robotics and Automation. The forum's interest spans accross many areas of computer science, robotics, and automation with the aim of promoting cross-fertilization and synergy.

Topics

The development of robotic systems has always been a severe challenge due to the heterogeneous technological issues involved. The process of bringing intelligence to a robot requires strongly tighten capabilities of sensing, processing, and acting. In this scenario, software plays a key role as it is the medium to embody intelligence in the machine. TC-SOFT addresses these issues by promoting:

• Discussion among experts at meetings and workshops
• Dissemination of research results in books and journals
• Joint efforts to define reference software models

The synergy between Robotics and Software Engineering is strategic. Their mutual benefit is to make it possible to build and evolve new software systems as integration of reusable building blocks. The keyword is "system" and the robotic field is a good and challenging example of these systems: heterogeneous structures where properties are emerging from the interaction of constituent parts.
